Public Service of the Year: Real Estate Registry
The Real Estate Registry – or Cadastre – is part of the Ministry of Finance. It is where all property ownership records are recorded and stored and where proof of ownership can be verified. The process of obtaining a record of deed was computerized more than a decade ago. At a time when many Government services are still archaic, the Real Estate Registry is continuously improving its level of service to citizens. This award is to recognize this endeavor, and especially for introducing ‘e-services’ such as online viewing property records, tracking real estate applications and transactions, and calculating fees. Citizens are also able to lodge complaints online.
